Geoff Wheeler

“The Collector's Friend: Bootleg Jazz Record Labels, 1948-1950”

If not for the reissue of many rare early jazz recordings on bootleg labels in the late 1940s, many collectors would not have discovered and heard this music. A audio-visual look at what bootleg labels issued, how this benefited jazz research and spurred legitimate reissue programs.

Sonny McGown

"Jazz on the Air - The 1950's"

There was a wealth of live music on television and FM radio during the 1950’s. Sonny will play and discuss unissued recordings from his personal collection, featuring an array of musicians such as Eddie Condon, Jack Teagarden, Benny Goodman, Wild Bill Davison and Errol Garner.
